Out and about in the local area there are many places worthy of a visit and these are just some of them. If it's shopping you're after, the cities of Nottingham, Lincoln, Leicester and Peterborough are within easy reach.


Also nearby are the market towns of Melton Mowbray (well known for its world famous pork pies and Stilton cheese), Grantham, Oakham and Stamford.

One of the finest 17th century country houses in Britain.  Delightful gardens, luxuriantly planted orangery and lakeside walks ensure Belton House is a pleasure to explore all year round. Featured in the BBC's TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth.

Belvoir Castle

The ancestral home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland for one thousand years. The castle is currently the family home of the 11th Duke, Duchess and their young family.

The Engine Yard, Belvoir Castle’s unique retail village, restored from old estate buildings, is popular for local food, drink and artisan shopping.

Rutland Water

With 9 miles of shoreline, Rutland Water is the home to several pairs of ospreys. Activities here include nature trails, bird-watching, cycling, fishing, rock wall climbing and most water-sports. It has a visitors centre, an aqua park and also a sand beach area. There are also a bar, cafe and restaurant.

The Viking Way

The Viking Way is a scenic long-distance footpath that spans approximately 147 miles, taking hikers on a journey through the heart of Viking history and the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds. The nearest point to us is the Church of St Nicholas, Carlton Scroop.

Woolsthorpe Manor

A National Trust property located 7 miles south of Grantham just off the A1. This 17th century farmhouse was the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton in 1642 and rooms on view reflect life of the period.
